Job Description: Purchasing and Planning Manager, Boolchand’s Stores

  • Integrate into the Company, understanding the culture, the teams, the clients, and our Vendors/Partners
  • Review of inventory vs sales by brand/category to see where we are under/over-inventoried and how buying should be adjusted to correct this with a view to:
    • Improving turn
    • Reducing dead stock/aging inventory, and so improving margins
    • Centralizing purchasing in partnership with Senior Purchasing & Planning Manager, and consolidating feedback from the key people in the various branches so their views are taken into account, but they are not directly involved in purchasing activities
  • Review of displays, signage and real estate use vs sales by brand/category to ensure merchandising is as productive as possible, and that there is a clear Boolchand’s look and feel which is similarly represented in all locations, work towards a new store concept
  • Review of inventory holdings across the islands by brand/category to see where there can be economies of scale and consistency so that purchases, sales strategies and marketing can be aligned as a group, with unique SKUs between branches being at a minimum
  • Align with marketing for new launches, replenishment, promotions, campaigns and markdowns/clearance as a single point of contact, consolidating information and coordinating with key people in the various branches
  • Review pricing and margins across brands/categories and vs local competition to ensure margins are maximized while remaining competitive
  • Put together and successfully execute sales/product trainings for all staff, and an onboarding program for new staff, in partnership with local management, holding them accountable to provide reviews and feedback with a view to improving retention and fostering internal growth
  • Prepare sales targets by branch based on trend and macroeconomic factors, and work with local management to set targets by employee, against which they can be incentivized. Prepare purchase budgets in line with this and ensure they are adhered to. Provide regular updates on sales and purchases vs plan.
