Fine Jewelry

We hope that you wear your jewelry with joy, love and without worry. Here are a few care and cleaning tips for your fine jewelry.

Gold is a soft, precious metal and is prone to getting scratched and oxidized with wear. The best way to maintain the sparkle is to run the jewelry under hot water for a minute and wipe with a soft cloth. Remember to remove any gold jewelry when you’re in a pool, however, as chlorine can weaken the metal’s structure over time. Scratches on your gold jewelry are common after wear but can be removed by visiting a jeweler with a buffer machine.

A diamond is not only a girl’s best friend, but is also one of the hardest gemstones on Earth. Despite the strength, though, it is still prone to chipping at the girdle. When wearing your diamond jewelry, you should be conscious of it on your body, removing it when doing any type of activity that might expose it to a rough substance or a hard blow. This might include gardening, washing the dishes, or intense exercise.

Diamonds can be cleaned very easily by soaking the jewelry in warm, soapy water for a couple minutes. Gently brush the diamond with a soft bristle brush to remove any dirt. Rinse and dry when done. You can also clean most diamond and gemstone pieces by putting them in jewelry cleaner or in an ultrasonic machine for a few minutes. Note that some gemstones such as lapis lazuli, pearls, emeralds, tanzanites, and turquoise should not be submerged in a jewelry cleaner or in an ultrasonic machine. We strongly recommend that all gemstone jewelry be handled by a professional jeweler for care and cleaning.
